The sublime beauty of the Golden Temple at Amritsar in the Punjab marks a place where the Buddha is said to have rested in contemplation over 2,500 years ago.       In those days there was here a natural spring surrounded by deep forest.

Two thousand years later, Guru Nanak found inspiration at the same waters.       For 500 years, the guru's teaching has been a lantern for followers who fearlessly try to pursue goodness through lives of prayer, simplicity, generosity and kindness; always respecting universal equality.       These followers of Guru Nanak are known throughout the world: they are the Sikhs.       Click the arrows to see more of the fabulous temple of Amritsar, already 400 years old, most sacred home of the Sikhs.
